Why is it?

why is it that i am 25 years old, and pay my own rent, that i feel i must clean my house for my father's arrival after christmas? he doesn't pay the rent, and i don't know of a single thing in this apartmen that is his...but i am worried that he will be upset with me for having a messy apartment! i guess i've just always had to have his approval, and though i've lived on my own for the last 4 years, i still need his approval. *shrugs* that and i think maybe if i present a clean apartment, he will be more likely to help me cosign on a loan for a house if he thinks i will keep it in good condition. looks like i'm staying up all night tomorrow night!
